This song was and “The Verge” were both two older songs that I always had high hopes for, but just never got around to recording properly. Now that Speedfossil had/has this solid line-up, I felt the time was right to go ahead and do them. “Simple Simon” has those crazy synth parts and a real XTC vibe. The song is about this guy Joe I used to know that just couldn’t get out of his own way! He was always blaming someone else or some situation for his problems, when really, he needed to listen to people’s advice and get his act together. Mike, Dan and Hector all really liked the arrangement and instrumentation of this one and we had LOT of fun recording it.
