Singer/songwriter Garret Vandermolen says: We started this one right at the beginning of working on NO ANESTHESIA and then stepped away from it for a while. Mike didn’t really feel like we were nailing it with the groove, so I asked Hector to come over to Rubber Chicken and re-cut the drums. We then sat on it for a while and when the pandemic was going on, I brought up the tracks one night and ended up working on the song all night till about 5 in the morning! I really wanted it to have that Neil Young, Harvest-era, kind of sound, where the performance was teetering on the brink of exhaustion. I think we got it! Basic tracks were acoustic, bass and drums. That one night during the pandemic, I did all the electrics, nord Wurlitzer, harmonica, and vocals. Dan listened to it and said run with it. It’s a really pretty song with a great melody and lyrically kinda talks about that feeling of isolation you get when you don’t understand why someone you love is doing what they’re doing.
lyrics
Throw away your silly little rag doll, she’s just a plaything, she’s just a toy.
Can’t you see that you’re wasting your attention, playing with the little girls that were made for little boys?
When she tells you that she loves you, I don’t know if it means the same thing to me.
‘Cause I’m always thinking of you and all I want is for you to be happy.
Open up your toy chest and find something better. You got a lot of games that you can play.
You got the best toys in the whole damn town, so pick up your rag doll and throw it away.
When she tells you that she loves you, I don’t know if it means the same thing to me.
‘Cause I’m always thinking of you and all I want is for you to be happy.

So many great songs, so much great playing. Tavern at the End of the World is just one song, this is an album you must listen to and experience all the way through. Rob Moss
Like most songs on the album this song shifts between two distinct modes that work great separately, but when they combine, they become Voltron and are unstoppable! bradykoch
